CAMPAIGN 2015 TORONTO
Mission
Improve education, communication, participation, awareness leading to immediate policy actions and implementations that will mitigate the health threats.
Key 2015 Goals
Shift authority and control of the feral cat and toxoplasmosis threat entirely to the Board of Health.
Top priority must be given to protecting and safeguarding our children' playgrounds or sandlots in all neighbourhoods, while parents should be educated with guidelines, as to the grave health threats their personal play areas my pose, similar to the CDC's American recommendations.
Under the administration and authority of the Board of Health; immediately cease all trap-neuter-return programs involving any form of multi-residential complex. All animals presently sheltered in such units should be given to legitimate city shelters for proper care, vaccination, licensing - and possible adoption.
Longer term solutions and monitoring are required here at all levels of government with communications and programs that involve research scientists, medical profession, government bodies and officials, plus local communities.
Toxoplasmosis is just one many viruses or parasites that will provoke challenges in the years to come should the climate continue to warm, bio-diversity degrade, populations expand and inter-mingle in so many ways -then these risks and threats will become much more common place. A joint action plan should be started.
